fixed it.
Thanks, that’s a lot to digest with some good thoughts.
I do want to be more possession based, today we were settling for the long ball and it was driving me crazy!
The 3four3 way is new for most of them this season, so they naturally revert back to old bad habits when facing adversity.
Possession soccer, it’s like bringing a machine gun to a knife fight.
Possession soccer, it’s like bringing Stephen Hawking to the 6th grade science fair.
Possession soccer, the foundation of the beautiful game through the advancement of the individual’s technical and tactical knowledge in structured team enviorment.
Thanks!!!
Just opened up new possibilities, my 7, 9 & 11 won’t be happy about this, but that’s how we’re gonna roll.
I’m stealing it all!!!
It’s the message I’ve been trying to get through to the players.
How does everybody feel about getting that message across to your best player? Technically not tactically. (High School Senior)
Dress him down in front of the entire team if he keeps the me first attitude?
Address the issue privately letting him know in no uncertain terms how it’s going to be?
Let him know ahead of time that you might tear him up in front of the team and how you expect him to respond.
Sit him even though it might hurt the final result?
The team has potential to be great if he buys in, the rest of the boys will follow him.
Thoughts?
Well, we got our doors blown off!
You definatly have to use the sole of your foot instead of playing the ball across your body.
We have a training/tactical session set up with Otto before our next game.
The kids dig it, but getting killed is tough, especially on me!
Once we figure it out, we’ll be fine, lack of practice and understanding tactics hurts big time.
I believe that after the session and moving back to the outdoors, we’ll see a benefit for our transistion to the possision game 3four3 preaches.
It’ getting pretty big here in Ohio, Otto Orf from the Cleveland Crunch has brought it to Akron/Cleveland adea.
My u14s will be playing our 1st games this Saturday.
We’re excited to play but ready for some tough lessons.
I think.it ties in perfectly with the possession game.

Billy Sutherland here, Coventry Ohio. Just south of Akron.
I have coached youth soccer for 7 years from u9 thru u14 where my youngest son is currently.
This past fall, I was fortunate enough to assist Coventry High School where my oldest son just played his senior season and where my youngest will be attending next fall.
We were also very lucky to be introduced to true possesion based soccer watching Caleb Porter dominate college soccer at The University of Akron. Check out Akron’s “Death by 1000 passes” on youtube. What a revolation that coinsided with Barcalona becomming the gold standard of the soccer world.
Needless to say, Caleb became my guiding light to how I thought soccer should be played, sent my kids to his camps trying to get anything I could, actually became friendly with him.
Then I saw the u11 youtube video and became instantly hooked, followed the site and twitter feeds and was super syked that the coaching course is being offered.
I switched formations to the 4231 four seasons ago and this course will tie directly into that system even though it’s 433 based and I look forward to starting a thread about that very subject.
Thank you Brian and Gary, looking forward to stealing everthing I can from everyone here!
