The Possession-based Soccer Development Framework
Andrew’s suggestion of emphasizing the angle by placing a defender near the player with the ball is great. This was a huge visual help for my players to understand that they had to move to the cone nearest the ball. They can’t “run and hide behind the defender”.
I noticed that once I put and “Active” defender in the square my guys actually got better at moving toward the cone they should be to help with the angle.

I coach for a smaller club that is north of Nashville, TN. I am currently coaching a U12 Boys Silver level team. I have been coaching for almost 8 years. Grew up playing soccer since age 5 and fell in love with it as a kid and the love affair has continued as an adult.
Coaching is my passion and I love to do it. Learning about how to do it better and become a better coach is a non stop process for me. That is what led me to find 3four3 and their videos.
I have become much more diligent about teaching the “Why” and the “How” much more than I used to. It is so critical to have the players know “Why” they do what they are supposed to do. I am feel like I still have so much more to learn about both the “Why” and “How”.
I am anxious to roll up my sleeves and dig in to all this site has to offer.
