Aman,
This is excellent!
Would you consider allowing us to publish an article using this publicly?
Also, we’ve moved the forums and the whole coaching program to a new site:
and so the forums have also moved:
Would be awesome if you copied and pasted your post over there! ๐

Hi Aman,
Good observation(s).
Yes, in my experience there are 2 big “tipping points” in the youth game. The first happens around 13/14 when kids enter puberty, and the 2nd happens at 17/18 when the game enters the man’s game.
Both are related to speed of play. The game takes a jump.
And both those jumps in speed of play can [artificially] manifest themselves at other ages if the opposition does a good job at pressing you (or you, them).
Your solutions are good ones.
Your first one is the solution of course (outside of recruiting), but it is going to take a long time for your players to develop the technical & tactical to cope with the added pressure. Awareness, spacing, and talking … have to get better. PLAYER DECISIONS ON AND OFF THE BALL HAVE TO GET FASTER. That’s inescapable. But again, it takes time, and you will lose games – even get run over at times – in the process.Your second solution is good too. Yes, it’s not in the pure spirit of possession, but I look at it as how often one shifts away from the purist view. If it’s one out of 10 games, no big deal – if it’s “managed” well. 5 out of 10 games, that’s different.
Hope that helps a bit.
Hi guys,
The 6v6 +3, along with a few others, are “bonus” activities we make available after around the 6 month mark for new coaching members.
(It is a new, more advanced, layering to the methodology that should come after the core set of activities have been ingrained in training)
We are close to that point now, so it will unlock for you guys soon.
Excellent Justin.
If I may offer my impression … I particularly like the first 4 minutes where you work on pointing out the principles of play.
Thank you for sharing it here!
Nice Scott.
Thank you for sharing your work!
Hi Walter,
Yes, we’ll be there the first week of April.
You can see we are drawn into Group K here:
http://www.micfootball.com/en/tournament/groups/c-class.html
Win, lose, or draw, we definitely plan on filming everything and sharing with you guys! ๐
Wow, now that was seriously creative/innovative Bret.
Huge value you just offered everyone here!Hi John,
I’ll be in Barcelona the first week of April. When are you going?
Also, you can reach out to Danny Lederman (danny@celebreightfc.com) and see if he can help you out with that. He lives in Barcelona, and his son is a player at La Masia.
Hi Michael,
It wasn’t covered in the field clinic because of limited time really. We’ve given a lot of thought in trying to reduce our training methodology to a solid core.
But with limited time, if we’re going to introduce a framework that will offer a club of coaches (all of which are at different levels & circumstances) the most helpful and useful impact, we had to do some trimming.
And since the club was interested in the fundamentals of how behind our “possession soccer” … midfield pressure got the axe. ๐
p.s. That activity can also be quite a bit more challenging to execute than the others, so don’t really want to frustrate coaches out of the gate. (super happy you’re getting lots of value from it)
Hi Amalia, Michael.
Yes, the coaching program has supplemental & advanced activities.
But those are dripped (become available) over time.
Hi Damian,
Brian definitely does make stoppages during activities for the reasons you cite. And there are occasions where that’s seen in the videos here.
However, the frequency and intensity of the stoppages is an art.Meaning it depends on his/our judgement of who the students are. (eg what’s their level, what rapport is established with the team / individual, how well do we judge the players *should be executing a particular activity, etc)
In any case, you’ve given great feedback, and we’ll look to build on the content here with that angle in mind as well.
Equipment:
We use a hi-pod system with a standard HD camera and a Tascam audio recorder.
If you ever plan on getting the hi-pod, let the owner of the company, Rick, know 3four3 sent you and you’ll get white glove treatment. ๐That’s a great visual Damian!
Thank you Ryan,
It should be all good now.
Ok guys,
The 6v6 + 3 Positional Rondo is now live. You can find the link in the members home page.
Please keep in mind that while you can totally try it, and even integrate it with your teams, I consider it an advanced activity (we’ll be adding more of that type of material).
Meaning, I urge everyone that the core framework comes first. This is something to be layered in.
Thank you Chad.
And yes, the #1 pitfall of almost every coach is trying and mixing all kinds of things. Trying to do too much is what destroys process.
For sure, coaches that make this mistake will not be ‘successful’.
