Good video breaking down the progression, Justin. I have GU13 team. Nice to see some comparison.
I give homework to my players (U14G). Mostly juggling.
At first it was the usual. One third (the keeners) did it. The middle third needed encouraging. The bottom third avoided it.
I turned to the only thing a player respects and that’s playing time. Parents are told up front the expectation.
Currently, if a player can’t juggle the ball x times using x different body parts (left foot, right foot, thigh, etc), they cannot play the first half of the next game. They get tested the practice before the game.
It works.

Thanks for sharing your practice plans and schedule. You mention “assign weekly Coerver homework that they do nightly“.
I assign homework as well, but only the keeners do it (about a third). How do you ensure they are doing the homework? Any consequences?
Thanks for the feedback guys.
We did Michael’s drill at last night’s practice. Not bad for the first time. We did have to adjust the size of the grid (smaller) to make it more effective. First aid kit was at the ready. but not required. That’s good, but their work rate should have been harder (only one girl knocked down). Some players shying away from stronger physical contact.
We’ll try Paul’s suggestions at the next practice.
Cheers,
Eric
Hello:
My name is Eric Sauze. I am in Edmonton, Canada. I coach a U12G and U18G team.
Canada has a men’s FIFA ranking of 112. We lose to teams from countries we don’t even know exist. Since I am at the grassroots, I am part of the problem. This course will be a positive step towards coaches’ education.
Given the weather here, 6 months of the season is played in 6v6 (including goalies) indoor, boarded soccer. Dump & chase is the norm. It will be interesting applying a possession system in a smaller, confined space with limited out of bounds.
