Why focus on the amount of passes, when we should be counting the amount of penetrations
I have had problems with some of the rondos as the boys have not enjoyed doing them, especially 4v0. When my backs turned they will mess about and then tell me its boring so I have had to adapt it.
The 2 scenarios they gave you, baseball and basketball were very poor versions of random. Baseball can not replicate the randomness of football and the basketball scenario did not have anyone trying to take the ball out of their hand.

Bale is not great in tight areas.

possession football is all about creating time and space to penetrate the gaps left by the opposition in a calculated efficient manner of keep ball.
ABOUT AS GOOD AS I CAN DO.
England has a mix of youth and experience, trouble is they are still mediocre, over hyped and kin over paid.
Sorry have no clue about US team

Any chance of seeing them in a game using what they have learnt?
Having Brian talk throughout made it interesting to watch.
Personally I felt something was missing from the players, yes it was still a good performance, but I felt it lacked that cutting edge especially in and around the box. The individualism from the players needs to be improved. Possession is all about shifting the oppo to find penetration and around the last 25 yards it was non existent at times, something to work on.
My boys are playing a professional academy next saturday (U12) on a pitch 4 times smaller in a 8v8 match, I am UK based.
I have year 1 kids passing in triangles receiving with their back on foot, but most of the time it is ball at feet dribbling in small areas, keeping the ball on the safe side. Shielding the ball is introduced from day one, holding an arm out so they run with the ball on the safe side at all times. 1v1v1 0r 2v2 games are popular.
All pretty basic really, checking shoulder, receiving on half turn, would not touch this drill personally.
To be fair there are some very very good English youth coaches about. Possession soccer is not new, John Cartwright had his Crystal Palace youth squads in the 1980s playing amazing keep ball, they were nicknamed the Team of the 80s.
I am sure that 3four3 would not be as successful here in UK, because our scouts are everywhere. As soon as you have talented kids, some scout is asking them to come along for a trial, so the team you see with Brian and gary would have been broken up long time ago. Some of the best coaches are outside of the academy system, which ties you down with paperwork, that is why you do not get to see their work. In reality where I live Brian and Gary would have had to contend with Arsenal, Tottenham, Watford, Stevenage, West Ham, Reading, Crystal Palace, Charlton, Brentford, QPR, Barnet, Luton, Fulham sending scouts to look at the boys.I packed in my job to become a full time coach, I have gone from earning £27000 to £9000 to live out my dream job. Things are now starting to get better with more work coming in. If you want it stop talking about it I say.
surely with all the holiday camps you have loads of coaching opportunities, especially with all those English coaches that go over to your country?
