Instead of allowing my team to continue their pre-game warm-up, a referee in the fall felt it necessary to lecture me and my players for 5 minutes about proper soccer lingo and specifically about how the 18 yard area is not called a “box”. I think he needs a new pet peeve.

When/If a defensive unit switches to man marking in the 18 it seems to me that the defense could become very jumbled and disorganized. What is a good way to keep this as simple as possible for the little darlings?
Are there good drills for how to accomplish this transition to and from man-marking and how to keep proper shape?
