December 30, 2013 at 5:13 pm #1225Jed,
I was presented with your book over christmas. OUTSTANDING work!
December 30, 2013 at 5:16 pm #1226Thank you very much Mark! Can’t get better feedback than that!
December 30, 2013 at 5:58 pm #1229I am currently working with my sons team. They are U5 presently, no laughter please. Haha
I would love to see what is utilized leading up to the stage they are ready for the advanced stuff. Im already breaking down whats in your book and here to simplify even further to build on the bare essentials needed to begin the next stage. I have one boy who is well beyond his years physically and mentally. Man-child of sorts.
Itching for spring weather to get them back on the pitch regularly.
December 30, 2013 at 6:02 pm #1230that’s fantastic that you’ve already started to adapt and put together basic building blocks that are age and ability relevant.
Just remember that there’s certainly no right and wrong. Some believe that children at that age are naturally and biologically selfish and you shouldn’t fight against that – others will look to encourage passing. Long term goals in mind not medium/short term.
Bets of luck! Don’t envy you with those age groups! Tough work! I struggle with U8’s and realised very quickly I wasn’t a U8 coach!
December 30, 2013 at 6:32 pm #1235I love the little ones, keep it fun and moving and they eat it up. My daughter is a U8 and her group is outstanding. There are several in her group that are simply a joy to watch on the ball. Their coach stresses possession and high pressure.
I have a few video clips of them stringing together pass sequences well beyond their years. Traveled recently to TN for a tourney against U9s. By the end other teams parents stopped by to watch and cheer them on for the title.
Maybe i could post a clip here.

January 9, 2014 at 11:48 am #1430Jed,
I want to thank you for your work! I love when we dive into something and unlock mysteries that we did not know were there….. that is what your book has done, I know that the credit can go to many, but wanted to thank you for what you do!!!!! Though I can tell you that you caused me many sleepless nights as my brain was racing over the last 3 weeks because of that book, lol…..
Blessings,
Kyle
