Good Morning 3Four3 Coaches,
Thought I’d share with you a video of the team I just started coaching this spring. It is a high school girls soccer team, their first season playing possession style soccer. We’ve made significant improvements throughout the season and obviously it helped having motivated players that were very open minded to being coached/trained in this style of play. It is also a testament of their trust they gave to me. The first clip is of a game we lost 0-1 in sudden victory over time. We had 76% possession in the game, outshot the opponent 3 to 1, yet gave up a freekick with 10 seconds left and the opponent capitalized. You can feel the sting of the loss. When you see the clip you’ll note our keeper handled the call on the penalty box line and was called for a hand ball, which was incorrect as the ball was not entirely out of the box.
Our team competes in the Regional Championships tonight, a first ever for the program, against an opponent we lost twice to earlier this season (was our 1st and 3rd game of the season). We’ve come a long way since then. We know how they play and we’ve improved tremendously. We have also scouted them so we know where our opportunities will be. I’ll keep you posted on the final result. In the mean time, I hope you enjoy our video.
