Let us know who you are!
Where do you coach, what age(s), level, how long, etc …
No need to be scared or shy. We firmly believe that the first big step on the journey is overcoming fear of “exposure”.
My first coaching experience, I went 1 win and 10 losses! Chances are your team did much better.

December 18, 2013 at 10:12 am #613Hi! Happy to be the first poster!
My name is Ryan and I am currently the DOC for Alexandria Soccer Association (right outside Washington D.C.) and age group director for the current U9s and U11s. I’ve been following the blog for the last few years and excited to educate myself to become a better coach and educator. I’ve been coaching for 10 years now and only in the last few years have I really felt like my coaching education and understanding of the game (despite playing a relatively high level) have only begun to emerge. My training from where I first started and the depth and analysis of my own sessions and games is at a much higher level. However, I have a ton to learn and excited to get started!
December 18, 2013 at 10:19 am #615Thank you for sharing Ryan! Excited to have you here.
Looking forward to learning, and working together with you.December 18, 2013 at 11:14 am #630Hey everyone. My name’s Ben. Right now I’m an assistant coach in Knoxville. Coached for about six years in NC (Twin City Soccer) and TN (what’s now FC Dallas Tri). Mainly I work with club and high school goalkeepers. Several years ago I coached a U12 boy’s team for two seasons. Looking back, can’t believe how naive I was and how little I knew, despite growing up in west Africa, playing my whole life, considering myself an “authority,” etc. Only been in the last year or two (since I discovered Kleibans, Jon Burklo, John Pranjic, Jed Davies, and others) that I’ve become a real student of the game. Now I just want to learn.
December 18, 2013 at 11:34 am #635Finally- a place that allows more than 140 characters!!!!!
My name is John Pranjic. I’m 26 years old. I’ve been a reader and commenter on 3four3 since the very beginning. And it’s been life changing!
I currently coach a high school girls team. This is my third season in charge of the program. I was privileged to coach the majority of my girls year round on a club team for a couple of years. So what you see on the field is actually a lot more work than just the 3 month high school season each year. Before coaching the girls, I coached the boys team at the same high school for 2 years and also worked 2 years as an assistant coach there as well. I also played for and graduated from the same high school! 🙂
I’ve also coached at Cal Poly- San Luis Obispo for their Men’s Club. I’ve worked as an individual/small group trainer and also a personal trainer at a local gym. I’ve coached at various camps and led sessions for groups of coaches. All great experiences!
I have the minimum certifications that allow me coach youth soccer in California, but I’ve picked up the majority of what I know by teaching myself. I’ve spent hours and hours researching and watching games and training sessions and listening to interviews. I look forward to sharing my thoughts and experiences with you guys and learning more from Gary, Brian, and everyone else!
Let’s stay connected!

December 18, 2013 at 11:36 am #637Welcome aboard Benjamin!
Great to have someone with knowledge of keepers. That’s a whole world I should probably learn more of.December 18, 2013 at 12:18 pm #643John,
Over time, you’re going to have to upload video of your teams here.December 18, 2013 at 12:24 pm #646I’m not usually active on forums, but you’ve got to get out of your comfort zone to progress I guess…
My name’s Sebastien and I hail from the wonderful ( well…) french-speaking Canadian province of Quebec.
For the past 5 years or so , buzz words like « development » , « philosophy » and « let the game be the teacher » are being thrown around a lot without any real meaning. When I came across 3four3′ blog, I was skeptic at first. But I kept reading and found myself to agree with a lot of what was being said.
I coach U12 girl and collegial women.
I hope to learn here as much as I can.
Well anyway, that’s pretty much it.
December 18, 2013 at 12:56 pm #650Hi guys,
My name is Taqee – ‘been following 3four3 and Gary/Brian for a while now, both on the blog and Twitter. I’m located in Minnesota (although, Sebastian – my wife is from Montreal) and have 2 young kids who are already better than I ever was. I’m eager to keep them away from garbage coaching, God help me.
First started coaching with Edina Soccer Club in the late ’90s. Took a break and then joined Tonka United, briefly, a few years ago – have some minimal ‘certs’ – but overall, have studied a lot of Mou, Pep, Bielsa in Spanish-language forums, in addition to accessing training sessions through InsideSoccer, etc. I am here because I am sure I do not know what I do not know and that is something I must know 🙂
Looking forward to building the future of football in America with you all.
December 18, 2013 at 1:29 pm #657Hello all and happy Holidays!
I have just gone thru my first year in charge of the girls grassroot development (GU6 – GU10) for a competitive club in southern california. I have been silent reader of your forum for quite some time of and extremely excited of 3four3 sharing their framework to empower coaches and players to play the beautiful game. I’ve been coaching for close to 15 years now and, like Ryan above, have just begun to see shades of things “clicking” from a coaching and player performance perspective.
In my case I have been fortunate of a colleague recently adding editable video to our games and sessions and that has really opened up as a great tool to be self-critical and identify areas where to continue improving on. At the same time, there has been games against very high level teams where I have left the game a little bummed after losing a match only to go back and be pleasantly surprised of our group is progressing in cleaner playing from the back, keeping the ball under the hightened pressure, and having pretty good opportunities to finish at goal.
The content from the forum has provided a very good view on how growth and progress is to happen that has helped me with better structure when analyszing team progress and when viewing these videos sessions.
I have also had my girls watch Gary or Brians team play at Cerritos Memorial Classic and come away astonished by the beautiful way they play so I am really looking forward to exploring and greater learning from your material!
Warm regards,
hector
December 18, 2013 at 2:19 pm #660So glad to be a part of this. Been following the blog for quite some time and it seemed like every post just intrigued me more and more. I have been coaching high school boys soccer in the Midwest for the past 10 years. It has a been a challenge to say the least over the years, but we’ve also had some great success for a small town. We don’t have much of a feeder program so I first wanted to get things in order at the high school level with the other coaches, philosophy, etc. We are finally now getting involved with the youth program and hoping to change things there. They have no DOC and all teams are just run by parents of the players. Hoping to share a lot of ideas with them from 3four3 and others on this forum. It’s going to be a long journey, but I’m up to the challenge.
December 18, 2013 at 3:39 pm #665Hey Guys,
I’m super excited that Gary and Brian put this together! I’m really excited about both the content and the collaboration pieces!
My name is Alec Lemmon. I was born, raised and played in Kansas City. Love this city! I started coaching at 13, helping run camps and helping my dad coach my little brothers. I was raised in a family of 6 kids that all played soccer competitively as youth and 4 of us played in college – 1 played pro. My Sophomore year of college (at MNU) – I covered games for local club coaches during the off-season. My Jr. year of college I started coaching a few teams for a small club. I became the GA for the men’s team at my school (MNU) after I finished playing.
I started my own club with some buddies my second year of grad school and it’s been a great experience so far! Absolutely LOVE coaching! Love coaching the kids! Love seeing them get better! Love possession soccer!
Tiki-Taka possession is what we bleed at Toca. We aren’t necessarily that good yet (on a national level), but we are passionate about developing it! We are 2 1/2 years old, so kind of still a baby club, but we are working hard to make slow but steady progress. The good part is that we building from the ground up (we don’t have to tear of the old down), the bad part is we started from nothing and it’s taking some time.
I coach (U9, U10 and U13 boys for the club.
Here is a little video of my U13s. They are solid. Nothing like Brian’s teams. I’m proud of them, because I know where they started from – you might not be that impressed but whatever. LOL. I was really struggling to get my teams to possess until I got hooked on 3four3 and the improvement has been CRAZY since then!
Love to here your feedback on what you see that’s good or need work.
December 18, 2013 at 7:12 pm #675Nice work Alec!!! I think I remember seeing a different video of you guys somewhere on YouTube. Forgive me if I’m wrong, you guys have a little trailer that discusses the core values of your club? Pretty high quality production? I remember your logo sticking out as something that I liked.
Does your entire video not have sound? (I watched first 5 minutes) If not, you should at least put some music to it or something. Watching in silence is no fun.
Can’t wait to interact with you man.
December 18, 2013 at 7:24 pm #676haha. Actually our opponent made this video and I just found it youtube. 5 minutes! I know it is boring without music. I put on Pandora when I watch it, maybe that will help you get a little farther. lol. Glad you liked the logo and club. 🙂
