Greetings All,
Last December I pretty much scrapped what I had been working on after signing on to 3Four3. I switched our focus to possession and our formation from a 1-4-4-2 to a 1-4-3-3 and confused the hell out of my players right before State Cup. We were very successful before the switch and it is a great little team. I did so because it was clear to me that change was needed and this was the way to go so why wait until the next year. We worked on it for less than a month and came out #19 in NorCal…which to me was pretty good considering.
The video is some highlights from the first half of our first game of Spring League. I have placed commentary between the clips for the players to see and hopefully learn. I have had film sessions in the past that were useful but I’m going to try this delivery method now to hopefully get the players engaged in learning. These girls will be U13 in August. The team is in blue and the competition is weak. I want them to get comfortable with their positions and possessing the ball. As the year goes on I will ratchet up the competition level significantly.
Any input, good or bad, constructive or critical is greatly appreciated.
